It is in God’s land that my body sits. Within His pleasant surrounding is where my Atma needs to be. However, it is within me that my Atma is.
The East brought me up and the West engulfed me.
The colorful, rich, deep, adorned, ancient culture of the East is captured in the half of the piece that is in the shape of the colorful traditional “gaghra” (long, embroidered, pleated) skirt. The colors are deep and speak to the past.
The West gave me the ultimate freedom of the sky being the limit, represented by the other side of the piece with its blue background. The state of Alabama and the Dogwood flower gave me a home of peace and success that I never had experienced before.
The chain between the two sides is my connection to the two hemispheres and the rope is my lifeline. The flowers give me beauty in my life; the colors and “ghagra” give me an instant connection to the East. At the same time, the West keeps me sane with the neverfading reality of the sky above me.
God bless the United States of America and the people of Alabama and Gadsden!!!
